The story

Tremenheere Kitchen: Modern European Dining in Penzance with St Michael's Mount Views

A Garden-Fresh Approach to Cornish Cooking

Tremenheere Kitchen serves modern European cuisine in Penzance, blending ingredients from neighbouring farms and its own plots with Asian and European influences. The kitchen opens at 10 am daily, shifting the menu each day based on seasonal arrivals from local growers. Joanna founded the restaurant in March 2015 with a partner drawn to honest hospitality, creating a space where children's menus sit alongside complex vegetable dishes.

Signature Flavours and Seasonal Specials

A standout lunch option features local hake accompanied by a Bombay potato terrine, rainbow chard, and a coconut tomato sauce. This blend of modern European cooking and local sourcing earned the 2026 Good Food Guide Local Gem award. Friday evenings highlight fresh seafood while Saturdays focus on steak, both supported by a daily specials board that rotates with the catch. House-made sticky pear and date pudding provides a sweet conclusion, often paired with barista coffee prepared on-site.

Dining Amidst Succulents and Sea Views

Sitting within Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, the venue commands views across St Michael's Bay to St Michael's Mount. Succulents and grasses frame the private garden where tables remain well-spaced, allowing choice between the veranda and an airy indoor space. Summer visits usually require advance booking for sit-down meals, yet the TK Hut remains open for takeaway items that guests can enjoy picnic-style on the hill.

The Good Food Guide — Local Gem

Fabulous views of St Michael's Mount are just part of the attraction at this pared-back but child-friendly café at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. Lunch might be local hake with Bombay potato terrine, rainbow chard and a coconut and tomato sauce (plus a glass of white on the side), or simply opt for pudding (sticky pear and date, perhaps) with a fancy hot chocolate. There are breakfasts, Sunday roasts and the odd evening session too, but the seasons and weather dictate the scale of what's available, so check first. Note: all tables are reserved for sit-down meals in summer; coffee and cake available from the takeaway hut.
