The story
It is with a sense of excitement that they look forward to welcoming you to The Crown. Many of you will already know them – they have been greeting and feeding visitors for many years. In June 2022, their local success encouraged them to open this charming pub in the heart of Burchett’s Green.
Dominic Chapman is a fourth-generation chef. The highly regarded Castle Hotel in Taunton has been in his family for over 60 years. Once a head chef for Heston Blumenthal, Chapman has a less molecular style than his former mentor. Instead, he serves up beautifully prepared, comforting dishes made with quality local ingredients. His aim is simple: to offer beautiful food in a cosy English pub – dishes that are heart-warming, seasonal, and packed with flavour. “All I want is for our guests to return home happy and contented,” he says. This aim has established their reputation and remains firmly in place today.
On the floor, you will be greeted and looked after by Holly Bryant and her team. Holly, who grew up in Hurley, has a passion for great hospitality and worked her way through the ranks. She now brings her charm and personality to The Crown, ensuring every visit feels like coming home.
The Crown’s Modern British cuisine has earned it a Michelin Recommended status for 2026 – a fitting recognition for a pub that combines ambition with genuine warmth. The kitchen is seasoned with a pinch of added ambition, yet the spirit remains that of a neighbourhood pub where beautiful food and great company come first. Whether you come for lunch, dinner, or one of their special event dinners (like the Nyetimber sparkling wine pairings or Italian-inspired menus), the focus is always on seasonal ingredients and true flavour.
