The story
Mignonette opened its doors on September 5th 2024, returning an eatery to this side of Kew Road after years without one. The project is a true family affair: founding partners Glen Toromeni, John McClements and his son James spent weeks on extensive DIY before welcoming their first guests. The result is a small, 25-seater dining room that feels like a genuine neighbourhood spot – warm, unfussy and welcoming.
The kitchen works with small producers across the UK and France, sourcing sustainable, high-quality ingredients. Seafood comes from MW Capture, meat from Sutton Hoo Farm and HG Walter, game from Le Guélier in France, and fruit and vegetables from the home counties and beyond. The menu changes seasonally and daily, offering an ever-evolving a la carte dinner and a daily lunch menu. There are vegetarian and vegan options throughout, plus a take on Sunday Roast. The cooking is French-rooted but never precious – just well-executed, affordable dishes built on excellent produce.
Only three months after opening, Mignonette earned a place in the Michelin Guide, and in February 2025 it received the Bib Gourmand award – Michelin’s accolade for “good quality, good value cooking”. The Evening Standard called it “the best value restaurant in London”. That recognition fits the restaurant’s own philosophy: sustainable, affordable and without pretension.
Downstairs, a private dining room seats up to 35 for parties, work functions and rugby packages. The wine list is carefully chosen, and the team offers wine pairing. Whether you come for a quick lunch, a leisurely dinner or a Sunday roast, Mignonette delivers a reliably satisfying French-inspired meal in a setting that feels like it belongs to the street.
