The story
Bistrot Vérité opened in 2009, the creation of Marc and Michaela Vérité. Today it is run by their sons: Head Chef Jacques Vérité, who brought experience from some of the country’s finest kitchens, and Maître d’ Charlie Vérité, who brings a relaxed, professional style of service. The restaurant remains a family affair, rooted in the same passion for great food that started it all.
The setting is a comfortable, unpretentious neighbourhood bistrot in Birkdale Village. The aim is straightforward: to delight with a mouthwatering menu in an environment that feels both welcoming and informal.
The kitchen works with fresh meats, fish, seafood and seasonal ingredients, sourcing locally wherever possible. Menus change daily, inspired by what tastes best that morning. The cooking reflects a love for classic French dishes alongside flavours from further afield – classic French and world cuisine, prepared with bold flavour and a touch of creativity.
This ever-changing approach keeps the cooking tied to the seasons and ensures each visit offers something new.
Bistrot Vérité’s consistent quality has earned it a place in the Michelin guide, where it is listed as Recommended. The recognition reflects the care put into every plate: the kitchen puts its heart and soul into feeding people well, aiming for every mouthful to be enjoyed. It is a quiet, deserved accolade for a restaurant that has been a fixture in Southport for over a decade.
